Yep. Even prominent public figures get burned by their condo or homeowners associations. Even if they happen to be members of the yacht club in Marina City, Marina de Rey, California.
Nate Holden was a former L.A. City Councilman, and a former member of his condo association board. But after his condo association failed to repair a plumbing leak from a neighboring condo unit, his own unit became infested with black mold.
The octogenarian became seriously ill, and was forced to move out of his home of 20 years.
It’s certainly not the way anyone would want to spend their twilight years – embroiled in a lengthy lawsuit with an uncooperative condominium association. But at least Holden can afford to pay an attorney to fight for his rights and just compensation.
What about the tens if not hundreds of thousands of residents living in middle class or affordable housing under equally deplorable conditions or worse?
