It’s no secret that communities governed by homeowners, condominium, and cooperative associations are highly litigious environments.
Each year, HOAs in the U.S. spend a fortune initiating or defending lawsuits.
To be clear, many of those HOA lawsuits could have been avoided, or at least settled in the early stages of the conflict.
But, all too often, litigation drags on for years.
In 2019, IAC readers learned just how far some HOA boards are willing to go, to prove they’re right and the homeowner or “other party” is wrong.
Of course, sometimes the court rules that the HOA is wrong, and the homeowner or “other party” is right.
However, as many homeowners have learned, even when you “win” the legal battle with your HOA, you lose.
