PA HOA asks township to take over private road

As a Pennsylvania native, this story caught my eye. A small homeowners’ association – only 11 homes – in South Abington Township, Lackawanna County, has decided to deed their road to the township.

HOA members recently presented a petition to Township Supervisors to begin the process of removing an expensive future liabilty for maintaining their private road. No doubt, the owners have figured out that 11 households cannot achieve economies of scale, and do not wish to bear the substantial expense of snow removal, pot hole repairs, and resurfacing of the road in the future.
